Eight journalists working in Kashmir have obtained threats from terrorists on-line and 4 of them have reportedly resigned from their jobs, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai mentioned within the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Rai mentioned a case has been registered on the Shergari police station in Srinagar on this regard.

“As reported, eight journalists working for Srinagar-based local newspapers received threats through terror blog “Kashmir Fight”. Four media individuals have reportedly resigned. The media individuals who resigned belong to the media home ‘Rising Kashmir’,” he mentioned replying to a written query from BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi.

The minister mentioned the federal government has a coverage of zero tolerance in opposition to terrorism and the safety scenario has improved considerably in Jammu and Kashmir.

He mentioned the federal government has taken a number of steps to guard the lives of individuals, together with media individuals, from terrorist menace and assaults that embrace proactive safety preparations whereby safety grid that features the police, military, paramilitary and intelligence companies stay deployed throughout Jammu and Kashmir to thwart any menace and try by the hands of terrorists or their handlers.
