Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday visited the subsidence-hit Joshimath city and introduced interim help for the affected individuals whilst protests by locals who’re demanding compensation on the traces of Badrinath stalled the demolition of unsafe constructions.

Agitated locals continued to take a seat on dharna and refused to permit authorities to raze the lodges.

“We want compensation along the lines of Badrinath. But the secretary to the chief minister said it was not possible. He said compensation as per market rate could be given. But when we asked what would be the market rate, he said he did not know,” Thakur Singh Rana, the proprietor of Malari Inn, informed reporters.
