A 7-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised and set on fireplace by two unidentified youths at Padmanagar in Bhiwandi city within the district, police stated on Sunday.
The incident happened on Saturday when the sufferer had gone to eat at ‘a langhar (free meals service)’, Inspector RS Sasthe instructed PTI.
The accused took the boy to an remoted place and sodomised him, and when he resisted, they set him on fireplace, the officer stated.
The boy, who suffered 30 per cent burn accidents, by some means managed to flee, Sasthe stated.
A case has been registered beneath sections 307 (try to homicide), 377 (sodomy) of the Indian Penal Code and related sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012.
The boy is being handled on the Thane Civil Hospital. Efforts are on to determine and nab the accused, the inspector stated.
