Days after a SpiceJet airplane had smoke within the cabin, aviation regulator DGCA on Monday directed the airline to analyse engine oil samples from its Q400 fleet to examine for presence of metallic and carbon seal particles.

The watchdog has additionally ordered the provider to hold out inspection of bleed-off valve display screen and housing for proof of oil wetness.

On October 12, SpiceJet airplane coming from Goa made an emergency touchdown at Hyderabad airport following an incident of smoke within the cabin.

In an announcement on Monday, DGCA mentioned it’s investigating the incident and primarily based on the preliminary investigation, there was proof of engine oil in engine bleed-off valve. This led to the oil coming into the plane air-con system that resulted in smoke within the cabin.

The plane concerned was Q400 and the airline has a fleet of 14 such operational planes.

The watchdog mentioned SpiceJet has additionally been directed to not ship any engine to Standard Aero-Singapore until the investigation is full.
