The Amarnath yatra resumed on Sunday afternoon from Panjtarni and Sheshnag base camps after remaining suspended for 3 days resulting from inclement climate in Jammu and Kashmir, authorities stated.

However, the yatra on the opposite route, Baltal, is but to renew, the authorities added.

As the climate confirmed important enchancment, a batch of 6,491 pilgrims carried out darshan at Amarnath cave, information company ANI reported. Among the pilgrims who paid obeisance on the holy shrine included 4700 males, 1,456 ladies, 213 kids, 116 Sadhus and 6 Sadvis.

“Those devotees who had already performed ‘darshan’ have been allowed to return to Baltal base camp,” a senior official on the Panjtarni base camp informed PTI over telephone.

The Amarnath yatra was briefly suspended resulting from incessant rains and landslides, leaving hundreds of pilgrims stranded in Jammu and at numerous locations en path to the holy shrine. Following the suspension of the yatra, round 6,000 pilgrims had been stranded at Ramban, officers stated.
