- Australia will play a sequence of Test, ODI and T20 matches on the Sri Lanka tour
- The Australian group will begin this tour with the T20 sequence, adopted by the Test sequence.
Australia has introduced squads for all three codecs for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka to be held in June-July. On this tour, the group will play a two-Test sequence, for which a 16-member group has been chosen. However, Marcus Harris has not acquired a spot on this group. Both the Test matches will probably be performed in Galle, Sri Lanka. The tour will begin with three T20 matches adopted by 5 ODIs.
Star gamers Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Steve Smith, Matthew Wade and Glenn Maxwell have returned to the restricted overs squads for this tour towards Sri Lanka. This would be the first tour with the group for brand new head coach Andrew McDonald.
While Test captain Pat Cummins is just not within the T20 squad, spinner Adam Zampa will probably be dominated out for the whole tour because of the beginning of his first baby. Apart from this, Australia A group will play two four-day matches in Hambantota on this tour.
After the announcement of the squad, chief selector George Bailey mentioned, “With Australia A matches, the players will get a chance to solidify their claim for the Test team.”
