Aviation regulator DGCA has sought particulars from the Nepal authorities relating to the incident of an Air India and a Nepal Airlines plane coming near a mid-air collision, based on a senior official.
On Friday morning, a Nepal Airlines airplane coming to Kathmandu from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and an Air India airplane coming to Kathmandu from New Delhi virtually collided.
Authorities on Sunday stated warning programs alerted the pilots whose well timed motion prevented the catastrophe.
A senior DGCA official on Sunday stated particulars are being obtained from the Nepal authorities on the airprox incident.
Air India has submitted a report in regards to the incident to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Nepal authorities do not need jurisdiction over Indian pilots. Pending additional particulars, the crew of Air India concerned within the incident was being off-rostered, the official added.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has written a letter to DGCA to conduct an investigation into the matter. Nepal’s watchdog has additionally requested the Indian regulator to take crucial motion towards the responsible and inform it, based on CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niroula.
In reference to the incident, CAAN has suspended three staff of the air visitors controller division for “carelessness” throughout responsibility hours.
There was no remark from Air India on the incident.
