Ernakulam rural police stated the accused, Fr Edwin Figarez, is a 41-year-old member of the Kottappuram Catholic diocese. After the police registered the case two days again, Figarez had gone into hiding.

The police stated the minor lady had been exploited a number of occasions since January. The final incident was on March 28. The lady revealed the trauma to her household days again, after which her mom needed to the police.

Police sources stated Figarez is lively within the subject of Christian devotional songs and has a number of compositions to his credit score. He allegedly lured the lady exploiting her curiosity in music.

The system of the Kottapuram diocese was not out there for remark. A receptionist on the Bishop’s House stated all clergymen have been engaged within the observance of the Passion Week.

Last May, a younger Catholic priest of Thrissur diocese had been arrested on costs of raping a nine-year-old lady. Fr Raju Kokkan had lured the lady from a poor household promising her a brand new gown for her Holy Communion.
