New Delhi, April 17

The Border Security Force (BSF), which guards the frontiers with Pakistan and Bangladesh, has inducted greater than 9,500 personnel for safety duties within the first three-and-a-half months of this 12 months, officers say.

The new recruits, largely inducted within the entry rank of constable, are being regularly deployed at border posts alongside Pakistan and Bangladesh, and for inner safety duties within the hinterland that features enterprise armed fight in opposition to Left Wing Extremists (LWE).

Of the 9,550 troops commissioned into the drive between January 1 and April 13, about 1,700 are girls personnel, the officers say.

The personnel are within the age group of 20-25 years and have been recruited in the midst of final 12 months, they added.

The new recruits have undergone a 44-week primary coaching in varied expertise, together with weapon-handling and firing, map-reading, catastrophe administration, border administration, human rights, primary legal guidelines governing safety operations, inner safety dimensions and unarmed fight, at varied coaching establishments of the drive within the nation.

A senior BSF official stated, “A majority of the new recruits have been inducted into the general security duty cadre, but a few of them have been taken in for specialist branches such as radio operators.”
