The CBI has arrested AAP municipal councillor Geeta Rawat for allegedly accepting bribe for allowing to put the roof of a constructing, officers mentioned on Friday.
The central probe company booked Rawat, municipal councillor, Ward 10-E, East Delhi Municipal Council (EDMC), and an unidentified individual on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for extending him a favour to put the roof of his constructing in an unhindered method, they mentioned.
After getting the inputs, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) laid a lure and arrested a vendor working close to Rawat’s workplace who was allegedly performing at her behest, they mentioned.
“The complainant on the precise instructions of the accused handed over the bribe quantity of Rs 20,000 to a vendor (working close to workplace of the mentioned councillor) and the identical was recovered from him. Both the accused had been caught. Searches are being performed on the premises of the accused.
“Both the arrested accused will be produced before the competent court in Delhi,” CBI spokesperson R C Joshi mentioned.
