A day after a girl’s cell phone was snatched close to the Hallomajra gentle level on Friday, police cracked the case inside 24 hours with the arrest of an 18-year-old boy.

The accused was recognized as Garvit Goyal of Sector 32, Chandigarh. The snatched cell phone and the scooter used within the crime have been recovered from him.

The sufferer, Diksha Thakur, a resident of Surya Tower, VIP Road, Zirakpur, had informed the police that on Friday, she, alongside together with her colleague, was returning residence on the latter’s two-wheeler. They each work for Just Dial firm at Industrial Area, Phase 2, Chandigarh.

When they reached close to the Hallomajra gentle level round 6.45 pm, a youth driving a scooter snatched her Apple iPhone and fled the spot. Thakur had managed to jot down the variety of the snatcher’s scooter (CH01-BV-5830) and alerted the police.

Acting swiftly, a group led by Baldev Kumar, station home officer, Sector 32, traced the accused utilizing technical and human intelligence, and arrested him on Friday.
