The Department of Telecom has requested telecom operators to withdraw all Covid pre-call bulletins and caller tunes.

The telecom service suppliers have been enjoying the pre-call bulletins and caller tunes associated to coronavirus to unfold consciousness amongst residents and to inform them concerning the precautions and vaccination to be taken in the course of the pandemic.

In a round dated March 29, DoT referred to the directions that had been issued for implementation of corona pre-call bulletins and caller tunes to the operators.

“In this regard, the approval of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is received for withdrawal of the caller tunes with immediate effect,” it stated.

Accordingly, the telecom service suppliers have been requested to withdraw all of the corona pre-call bulletins and caller tunes issued by DoT occasionally.

The authorities had earlier acquired representations that the audio clips have served their supposed objective and had been delaying vital calls throughout emergencies.
