The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) on Wednesday launched 10,000 cusecs of water from Pong Dam into the Beas river to offset the excess influx into the reservoir.

Board officers stated the river has sufficient carrying capability so the quantity of water launched wouldn’t flood any space downstream.

Upstream of the dam, nevertheless, the river remains to be receiving round 80,000 cusecs of water every day. The officers stated that they determined to go for managed launch of water with the dam being two-thirds full to capability.
