DANIA BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – As residents of Puerto Rico cope with the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona, the animals left inside a flooded animal shelter had been transported to adoption facilities within the U.S. to present them new perpetually houses.

Dozens of pets had been unloaded from a cargo jet and brought to the Humane Society of Broward County, round 5 a.m., Wednesday.

Twenty canine and 10 cats made a brief journey from Puerto Rico to Miami International Airport and settled into their kennels on the rescue shelter situated in Dania Beach.

The animals got here from a company that the Humane Society works with referred to as Save A Sato, which is situated in San Juan; the shelter was with out energy, which is why they had been transported to South Florida.

Officials with the Humane Society of Broward County stated they wanted to get the animals out of that shelter.

“Unfortunately, they lost power from Hurricane Fiona,” stated Cherie Wachter of the Humane Society of Broward County. “They have no running water, and by taking some of these animals it’s helping to alleviate and make more room at the shelter.”

The Save A Sato shelter is now in a position to soak up extra animals which were displaced because of the storm.

“It’s our understanding that people are already finding animals and bringing them to the facility, so this is just one of many flights that we anticipate helping in the next couple of weeks,” stated Wachter.

Health checks and cleanings will probably be given to those furry critters earlier than they’re put up for adoption later this week.
