PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Some immigrants in Palm Beach County are disillusioned that the Sunshine State is probably not a spot for migrants trying to find a greater life, saying they left one hostile place to be met with extra rigidity right here within the states.

This comes after Gov.Ron Desantis suggested “more and more” migrants shall be relocated away from Florida.

“We don’t want handouts, we want to work,” Karym Salcido, a Venezuelan American, stated.

Salcido shared the ache of Venezuelans as they depart their nation in hopes of a greater life.

“The first time that I saw a Venezuelan crossing the river, I cried,” Salcido stated. “I cried so much because I never in my life thought that we (would) be in this terrible situation.”

Salcido stated Venezuelans in search of sanctuary within the United States is not a simple resolution and feels her persons are being handled like political pawns.

“People are running away from Venezuela because they are scared,” Salcido stated. “They are scared of these human rights situations.”

For organizations just like the Guatemalan Maya Center, the transfer by DeSantis is portray the flawed image of Florida.

“We now are also sending the message that here in Florida we’re not accepting migrants,” Mariana Blanco, the assistant govt director with the Guatemalan Maya Center, stated. “They have to be shipped elsewhere and get resources elsewhere in order to be welcome.”

They are debating whether or not to take authorized motion in opposition to the governor.

“Asylum is the right that everybody has and so the stance of the center is to answer to the needs of the people and not to ship them elsewhere,” Blanco stated.

DeSantis stated the migrants voluntarily signed launch varieties and obtained details about Martha’s Vineyard.
