The police have registered a case towards the 24-year-old man after a video of the alleged incident, which happened on Wednesday, surfaced on social media, an official mentioned.
According to preliminary data, the person within the video is a resident of Dhera village in Mauganj space, sub divisional officer of police (SDOP) Naveen Dubey mentioned.
The sufferer and the accused have been in a relationship and a dispute occurred between them, following which he beat her up, he mentioned.
In the video, the lady is seen asking the accused to marry her. The man initially will get irritated after which proceeds to kick and slap her repeatedly within the face.
The sufferer had come to the police station to tell concerning the incident, however she refused to lodge a grievance. The accused was detained beneath part 151 (disturbing public peace) of the IPC and later launched, the official mentioned.
However, when the video of the assault surfaced, a case beneath part 323 (voluntarily inflicting damage) and different related provisions of the Indian Penal Code was registered towards the accused, who’s absconding, he mentioned.
The sufferer has lodged a grievance towards the one who shot and circulated the video and a case has been registered beneath Information Technology (IT) Act, the official mentioned.
