Pope Francis, who left hospital final weekend following a bout of bronchitis, will skip Friday’s outside “Way of the Cross” procession resulting from chilly climate, the Vatican mentioned in an announcement.

The 86-year-old pontiff will nonetheless attend an indoor Good Friday service earlier in St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni mentioned in response to a query from Reuters.

It is the primary time the pope is not going to preside on the “Via Crucis” service at Rome’s Colosseum since he was elected in 2013.

The Vatican mentioned he would comply with it from his residence.
