Three members of a household, together with a pregnant lady, died when the roof of their home collapsed after heavy rainfall in Kotkapura city of Punjab’s Faridkot district on Wednesday.

The victims, Gurpreet Singh, 31, his spouse Karamjit Kaur, 30, who was seven months pregnant, and their son died when the roof caved in round 4am whereas they have been asleep.

Their relative, a minor lady, who lives within the neighborhood however was staying over with the household, was additionally injured within the incident. She was rescued from the rubble and admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot.

Neighbors stated they wakened on listening to a loud crashing sound and rushed to the household’s rescue.

Faridkot deputy commissioner Vineet Kumar stated that following heavy rains within the space, water had gathered within the vacant plot adjoining the home. The outer wall had developed cracks and the roof collapsed.
