Two males had been arrested for committing sacrilege on the gurdwara in Mansurpur village of Phillaur sub division in Jalandhar district on Sunday evening.

Police mentioned the 2 broke into the gurdwara premises to steal cash from the Golak (assortment field) and spat tobacco close to the Sikh holy guide, Guru Granth Sahib.

A case was registered on the Goraya police station. “Investigation is on and the situation is under control,” a Jalandhar Rural police official mentioned.

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal condemned the sacrilege at Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Mansurpur. He urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav to take rapid and stringent motion towards the culprits.

Bholath Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira shared a video of the incident on Twitter and mentioned that he was pained by the sacrilege. He additionally urged Mann to take rapid motion towards the culprits.

BJP chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa referred to as the scenario “worrisome” and slammed the Aam Aadmi Party authorities within the state for “deliberately giving signals to anti-social elements to indulge in communal acts and destroy peace”.
