JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jon Dantzler, an Ed White High School soccer participant, was the 17-year-old shot and killed last night at McGirt’s Creek Park, News4JAX has discovered.

Dee Webb, a soccer teacher ambassador at Ed White High School and former Jacksonville Jaguars participant, stated Dantzler performed with the junior varsity workforce and attended Horizon North Campus.

Webb stated he’s heartbroken and shocked one other teammate is gone too quickly. He stated this isn’t the primary Ed White High School soccer participant that’s been killed and he needs the gun violence to cease.

Officers stated the 17-year-old was with different youngsters within the park when the capturing occurred.

Dantzler and the opposite youngsters left the park and drove to a Publix Parking lot off 103rd Street and that’s the place officers had been referred to as and the place they discovered Dantzler lifeless.

Webb stated Dantzler performed with the junior varsity workforce and was a gifted athlete that was going to be shifting to varsity this yr.

“He was more like the hype man. Everybody pretty much related to him. For us, like getting team hype get people going and things of that nature,” Webb stated.

Webb stated he hopes individuals will come collectively to cease this violence.

“Actually being at the school and community doing stuff with them, taking them places showing them things. I think that’s what helped me because I lived in that same community that he was raised in,” he stated. “And I know that’s what helped these younger men now, versus just leaving football practice going home being on the streets.”

Webb stated he needs to be a mentor to younger males locally in order that they don’t flip to violence.
