The courtroom of further session choose Ajit Atri on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Congress chief Captain Sandeep Sandhu, former political secretary to ex-chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, within the alleged 65-lakh road mild rip-off.
Vigilance Bureau (VB) had booked Sandhu within the alleged case pertaining to misappropriation of 65-lakh authorities grant meant for set up of streetlights in 26 villages of Sidhwan Bet, Dakha sub-division, Ludhiana.
Sandhu, Congress’ present halqa in-charge for Dakha, has twice unsuccessfully contested meeting elections from Dakha constituency on the occasion ticket.
A complete of six accused have been booked within the case to date. While three accused — block improvement and panchayat officer Satwinder Singh Kang, block samiti chairperson Lakhwinder Singh and village improvement officer Teja Singh have been arrested, Captain Sandeep Sandhu, Gaurav Sharma, proprietor of Amar Electrical Enterprises and Sandhu’s aide Harpreet Singh are but to be arrested .
Vigilance officers, in the meantime, declare that the accused had launched the funds to the corporate earlier than set up of the road lights and located that the lights have been bought at higher-than-approved charges.
VB had earlier on October 8 carried out a raid at Sandhu’s Mohali residence for his arrest.
