The Supreme Court on Monday stated it’s unlucky that the apply of the “two-finger test” to look at rape survivors continues to be prevalent in society, and requested the Centre and the states to make sure it isn’t carried out.

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Hima Kohli overturned the choice of the Jharkhand High Court acquitting a rape and homicide convict, and upheld the choice of a trial courtroom holding him responsible.

The bench stated the decade-old determination of the highest courtroom had held the “two-finger test” as a violation of a lady’s dignity and privateness.

It issued a slew of instructions to the Centre and state authorities authorities and requested the DGPs and well being secretaries of the states to make sure that the “two-finger test” is just not carried out.

The prime courtroom stated any particular person conducting the two-finger check could be held responsible of misconduct.
