UNION SQUARE, Manhattan (WABC) — A manhunt is underway for the individual behind the most recent violent incident within the New York City subway system: a theft and slashing on the Union Square station that police say seems to be random.

The assault occurred Friday afternoon simply earlier than 4 p.m. on the southbound N/Q/R practice platform.

Police say the suspect grabbed the sufferer’s bag because the doorways opened on an N practice.

The sufferer adopted the suspect down the platform and was slashed within the face as he confronted him.

The suspect fled with the sufferer’s bag, which contained about $420 price of building instruments and a pair of trainers.

The 27-year-old sufferer refused medical remedy.

Investigators launched surveillance pictures of the suspect Saturday morning.

He is seen carrying a black hooded sweatshirt, grey pants, glasses and a blue surgical face masks. Police are asking for the general public’s assist monitoring him down.
