A sonic growth rattled US’s Washington and Virginia on Monday after two F-16 fighter jets chased an “unresponsive aircraft” by the sky.

The loud growth frightened residents of the town who reported listening to a thundering noise that shook partitions and home windows throughout the realm. As individuals took to social media to inquire in regards to the unusual noise, many residents additionally shared CCTV movies from their properties that captured the loud noise.

One such video, shared by Twitter consumer @goodguyguybrush, exhibits the Virginia resident’s canine reacting to the sonic growth.

Sonic booms happen when an plane flies at a velocity increased than the velocity of sound. According to NASA, when the plane zooms within the sky, it pushes apart air molecules with colossal power leading to a thunderous growth. 

Apart from being startlingly loud, sonic booms may also trigger harm to properties and even shatter home windows.

On Monday, the North American Aerospace Defense Command stated in an announcement that the 2 fighter jets “responded to an unresponsive Cessna 560 Citation V aircraft over Washington, DC, and northern Virginia”

The jets chased the aircraft till it crashed in the bordering Virginia mountain area after attempting to make contact with its pilot. As per US media, the plane was not shot down by the jets and its  crash wreckage had not been located yet.
